We have 4 different types of bins, each with colour coded lids:
Red bin for household general waste — plastic bags, snack wrappers, polystyrene, nappies, broken glass, crockery, clothing, broken household items, etc.
Green bin for garden waste — flowers, leaves, grass clippings, branches, leftovers, bread, vegetable scraps, bones, milk, cheese, tissues, paper towels, pizza boxes, compostable packaging, and pet waste can all go in the green bin.
Yellow bin for recyclables — Paper and cardboard, aluminium, steel, aerosol cans, plastic bottles, tubs and containers, milk and juice cartons, glass bottles and jars. It’s important to clean food remnants, because food contamination can ruin the recyclability of an entire bin (and sometimes entire truckload).
Blue lid bin for cardboard — Boxes and packaging can be left in the blue bins, but please flatpack boxes before disposing so there is enough room for everyone.
Residents can call Randwick City Council on 1300 722 542 to schedule up to 5 collections per calendar year for large items which are to be left on the street the day before council collection.
